Gold Price Per Gram in Canada

Canadian scrap offers are made per gram in Canadian dollars — two details that both matter, because the per-gram numbers Canadians usually find first are American. Today's C$ figure for every karat, from one auditable source.

As of 17 September 2026, the price of pure gold in Canada is C$193.33 per gram — C$6,013 per troy ounce.

Converted at US$1 = C$1.3939 (ECB reference rates, 2026-09-16). Spot itself is recorded from a live market feed every fifteen minutes.

C$ per gram, not US$ per anything

The classic Canadian selling mistake happens before any shop is entered: pricing a jewellery box from a US website. An American per-gram figure understates the Canadian-dollar value by the full exchange gap, so an offer that would be fair against the C$ number looks generous against the USD one — and buyers know which number optimistic sellers carry. Anchor on the table above: world spot, converted at the dated rate, scaled by karat. Then every offer becomes a simple percentage.

The 10K surprise

Canadian mall and chain-store jewellery leans 10K just as its American counterpart does, and 10K is where per-gram arithmetic surprises sellers most: at 41.7% purity, a gram of 10K carries well under half the pure rate in the capsule. A drawer of 10K priced mentally at “the gold price” disappoints at the counter through no dishonesty at all — the karat, not the buyer, set the number. Our 10K explainer walks the honest arithmetic.

From this table to a fair offer

Weigh by karat group, multiply by the matching row, and the result is melt value — the neutral midpoint. A Canadian buyer's offer lands somewhere below it; the honest ones state their percentage without flinching. The calculator does the multiplication live, and the selling guide covers the rest of the counter.

Questions people ask in Canada

How much is one gram of gold worth in Canada today?
The pure-gold gram is in the capsule above; each jewellery karat has its own row in the table. All figures are Canadian dollars at the dated conversion shown on the page.
Why was my offer so far below the per-gram price here?
Two legitimate layers: karat purity (a 10K gram holds 41.7% of the pure rate) and the buyer's margin (refining, testing, profit). If the offer is under about two-thirds of your piece's melt value, a competing quote is the correct response.
Should I use the ounce price or the gram price?
They are the same value in different clothes — 31.1035 grams to the troy ounce. Use ounces for bullion conversation, grams for jewellery and scrap, and never let a quote switch units mid-negotiation without redoing the division.
