Privacy Policy
This policy explains what GoldHub collects, why, and what you can do about it. It covers this website only.
The short version
We do not require an account, we do not ask for personal information to use the price tools or the directory, and we do not sell personal information. Visiting the site leaves a server log entry. If advertising or analytics are running, those third parties set their own cookies — which is where most of the tracking on any free site actually happens.
What we collect
Server logs
Like every web server, ours records the IP address, browser user-agent, requested page, referring page and timestamp of each request. These are used to keep the site running and to investigate abuse and errors. They are retained for a limited period by our hosting provider and are not used to build a profile of you.
Information you send us
If you submit the business claim form or an advertising enquiry, we receive what you type into it — typically a business name, your name, an email address and a message. It is stored in this site’s database so we can reply and keep a record of the enquiry. We use it to respond to you and for nothing else, and we do not add you to a marketing list you did not ask for.
Cookies set by this site
The site itself sets only functional cookies: those WordPress uses if you log in as an administrator, and cookies our caching layer uses to serve pages quickly. There is no cookie that identifies you as a visitor for our own tracking.
Third parties
Analytics
When website analytics is enabled, we use it to see which pages are visited and how people arrive, in aggregate. The provider sets its own cookies and processes that data under its own privacy policy. We use it to understand what is useful on the site, not to identify individuals.
Advertising
This site is funded by advertising. Ad networks — including Google AdSense and comparable providers — place their own cookies and similar technologies in order to serve and measure ads, and in some cases to personalise them based on your browsing across other sites. That processing is carried out by the ad network under its own policy, not by us, and we do not receive the personal data they collect.
You can control personalised advertising from Google at myadcenter.google.com, and opt out of personalisation from many other networks at optout.aboutads.info and youronlinechoices.eu. Blocking cookies in your browser also works, and the site remains fully usable without them.
Price data providers
Gold prices are fetched by our server, not by your browser. Requesting a price feed does not expose your IP address or any information about you to the price provider.
What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent personal information.
- We do not require an account to use any tool on the site.
- We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
- We do not use your enquiry to send you unrelated marketing.
Your choices
You can browse the entire site with cookies blocked. You can opt out of personalised advertising using the links above. If you have sent us an enquiry and want it deleted, email us and we will delete it.
Depending on where you live — California and several other US states, the UK and the EU among them — you may have specific rights to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of personal information held about you. To exercise any of them, email the address below and say what you want done.
Data security and retention
The site is served over HTTPS. Enquiries are kept only as long as they are useful for the conversation they belong to. No system is perfectly secure, and we do not claim otherwise.
Changes
If this policy changes materially — in particular if we add a new category of third-party processing — the revised policy is published on this page.
